The N4 client maintains a list of all known vessel visits. If your site uses EDI for stow plans, you must create the vessel visit before you (or a third party) post the EDI message. When an EDI stow plan arrives, it expects a corresponding vessel visit in N4. When there is a match with an existing vessel visit, N4 applies the EDI automatically to the vessel visit. If there is no match, N4 issues an error. For more information, see Setting up EDI for vessel operations (on page 1).
You create the vessel visit manually in the N4 client: Operations Vessel
Vessel Visits
Vessel Visits view
Vessel Visit form.
Upon creation, a vessel visit record includes:
vessel reference (vessel Id)
Line operator
Vessel Type (Direction) - Inbound, Outbound, or Through
Service
Estimated time of arrival
Facility
Notes
The XPS client displays carrier visits in the following visit phases: Inbound, Arrived, Working, Departed. It does not display carrier visits in the Created, Closed, or Canceled visit phases. If a vessel visit does not appear in the Vessel Schedule window of the XPS client, check the visit phase. See Vessel visit phases (on page 1) for more information.
